Here is your chance to help set priorities for the future of the Town of Vermont!

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at 7:30 pm, at the Vermont Town Hall.

The Vermont Plan Commission is sponsoring a public meeting to listen to your views on issues facing the town over the next 20 years, and to provide information about the "Smart Growth" comprehensive planning process.  The meeting will be facilitated by Bill Rizzo, Community Resource Development Educator with Dane County UW Extension.

The Town Board is preparing to produce a Comprehensive Plan for the Town, as required by Wisconsin Statutes.  This Comprehensive Plan will update and replace the current Land Use Plan, which was approved by the Board in October, 1997.

According to state law, the development of the Comprehensive Plan must involve active participation of the Town’s residents.  The Plan must address topics such as agricultural, natural, and cultural resources, transportation, land use, economic development, and others.

The planning process will help us decide how we will respond to issues such as increasing residential development, recreational use of town roads, and many others.

The January 18 meeting will begin with an overview of the comprehensive planning process.  The remainder of the evening will be devoted to taking your input on your vision for the Town's future.

There will be an opportunity to provide written comments if you do not wish to speak.  You may also contact any Plan Commission member to give input or to get more information.

We look forward to seeing you on January 18 at the Town Hall!
